Quick Start

Download a GEDCOM (.ged) file from your genealogy software or online tree service.
Open the Map page and click Upload GEDCOM File to select your .ged file.
Set Max Generations to choose how many generations of descendants to plot.
Choose whether to plot Birth or Death locations using the toggle.
Search for a person to plot using the autocomplete or dropdown search boxes.
Click Plot to visualize your family’s migration journey on the map!
Or, after uploading your GEDCOM file, open the Family Tree page and click any person in the tree to plot their journey on the map.

Click Upload GEDCOM File on the Map or Family Tree page.
Select your .ged file (exported from Ancestry, MyHeritage, FamilySearch, etc.).
The app will process your file and load your family data for mapping and tree visualization.

Use the Max Generations dropdown to select how many generations of descendants to plot from the selected ancestor.
Higher values show more generations, but may be slower for large trees.

Toggle between Birth and Death locations using the switch above the map.
Markers and lines will update to show the selected event for each descendant.

Use the autocomplete search box to quickly find people by typing their name.
Or use the dropdown selector to browse and select from all loaded individuals.
After selecting a person, click Plot to update the map or tree.

🟡	Fallback/unknown event marker
🟢	Current ancestor marker
—	Colored lines show migration paths between generations

Click on any marker to see details about that person and their journey.
Use the Individual Journey feature to highlight a single person’s migration path across the map.

Legend: Hover over the legend to see what each icon and color means.
Clear Map: Click to remove all plotted markers and lines.
Interactive Popups: Click markers or lines for more info and navigation options.
Sidebar Menu: Use the sidebar for quick access to all controls and search tools.
